Nepal is country of beautiful landscapes, where you can see eight of the world’s ten highest mountains including the world’s highest Mount Everest. It is also rich in history and culture; a place of mystery and people invokes different feeling. In Nepal, there’re many interesting and beautiful buildings and places to visit.
Katmandu
Katmandu is the capital of Nepal, countries largest metropolitan city, noisy, traffic-clogged but excellent for shopping and eating. Katmandu is a great place to arrange trips out into the wilderness. There’re many places to visit in Katmandu. The most sacred temple is thePashupatinath. Only Hindus are allowed to enter into the Temple, non-Hindu visitors can observe the temple from the other bank of Bagmati River. You can have great view of Katmandu from the Bhimsen Tower. It is a nine-story tower at the heart of Katmandu. Inside the tower, it has113 steps spiral staircase, and it does have an elevator too. You can have a panoramic view of the city from tower. But to the tower you have to pay a small fee.
You can see innumerable temples and ancient monuments; the Old Royal Palace and the Kumari Chowk at the heart of the city center Durbar Square. The Kumari Chowk is the home of Nepal’s own living goddess, a girl who worshipped as the living incarnation of the Hindu goddess Durga. There is a huge Buddhist stupa on a hill west of the city center at Swayambunath.
You can found some best historic buildings and temples in the ancient city Bhaktapur. It has its own Durbar Square featuring the five-storey Nyatapola pagoda. Patan is just south of Kathmandu, it has also another Durbar Square with a seventeenth century’s Royal Palace and some temples. If you take a trip at Shiyapuri or Jamacho, you can have fine view of the Himalayas. To have beautiful and better mountain views you can visit Nagarkot and Dhulikel, they are also out side the valley but easily accessible from Kathmandu.
Pokhara
Pokhara is most popular destinations for the visitor’s in Nepal. To view the unforgettable, stunning great scenery of Machhapuchhre (or “fish-tail peak”), the Annapurna Mountain and Manaslu ranges Pokhara is ideal place. Sarangkot is another mountain viewpoint, there’re many local excursions, including hikes.
Lumbini
Lumbini (Sanskrit for “the lovely”) is the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, born in 543 BC; a place of Buddhist pilgrimage, located at the Nepalese town of Kapilavastu, district Rupandehi, near the Indian border. It is situated 300 kilometers from Kathmandu and 190 kilometers south of Pokhara. Lumbini is one of four Buddhist pilgrimage sites based on major events in the life of Gautama Buddha and it is an ancient archeological monument, thousands of devotees from the whole world is regularly visiting. This is one of the World Heritage site listed by UNESCO.
Chitwan National Park
Chitwan National Park is situated on the south tip of the country. The park is the jungle home of various animals and birds including Bengal tiger, Indian rhinoceros, deer’s, wild oxen, crocodiles and over 450 species of birds.
Bardia National Park
It is in the west of the country. It is not as big as Chitwan. Bardia National Park doesn’t have as many rhinos and tiger as Chitwan but sighting is remarkable in the smaller area of Bardia.
